‘Monuments Men,’ ‘Invisible Woman,’ more movies out this week

This Friday, 2014 finally kicks the doors open at movie theaters, bringing us two of the films we told you to see this year: George Clooney’s star-studded “The Monuments Men” and the feelgood “The LEGO Movie.” In a week crammed with movies looking for your buck, here’s a little guidance.

1. Cavemen
Director: Herschel Faber
Starring: Cast: Skylar Astin, Camilla Belle, Chad Michael Murray, Kenny Wormald
Plot: A dramedy about finding true love is more of daunting task than a playboy ever imagined.
2. Demi-soeur
Director: Josiane Balasko
Starring: Josiane Balasko, Michel Blanc, Brigitte Roüan
Plot: A pharmacist’s ordered life is disrupted with chaos when his simple-minded half-sister finds him after her mother’s death.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: This sweet French film is sure to put a smile on your face.
3. A Fantastic Fear of Everything
Director: Crispian Mills, Chris Hopewell
Starring: Simon Pegg, Amara Karan, Paul Freeman
Plot: An author’s research of serial killers end up turning him into a paranoid mess.
4. The Invisible Woman
Director: Ralph Fiennes
Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas
Plot: Charles Dickens' mistress Nelly Ternan finally makes the limelight in this surprising back story of an author we have known for so long.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: Directed by Ralph Fiennes, this film may be an instant classic about Charles Dickens.
5. Kids for Cash
Director: Robert May
Plot: "Kids for Cash" exposes a shocking American secret of a small town judge who puts kids in jail for a profit.
6. The Last of the Unjust
Director: Claude Lanzmann
Starring: Claude Lanzmann, Benjamin Murmelstein
Plot: Theresienstadt is the so-called "model" ghetto/concentration camp, where Benjamin Murmelstein is the last President of the Jewish Counsel.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: This film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
7. The LEGO Movie
Director: Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Chris McKay
Starring: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett
Plot: An animated story of a LEGO minifigure Emmet, who as and average Joe is mistakenly identified as the super hero type to save the world.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: These kids' toys come to life thanks to the directors of “21 Jump Street" directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
8. Love & Air Sex
Director: Bryan Poyser
Starring: Ashley Bell, Zach Cregger, Sara Paxton
Plot: Brokenhearted Stan flies to Austin for the weekend in hopes of stumbling upon his ex-girlfriend Cathy, but he arrives to find their best friends Jeff and Kara in the middle of their own breakup. Before too long, battle lines are drawn - and with the Air Sex World Championships in town, anything can go down.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: This film screened at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
9. The Monuments Men
Director: George Clooney
Starring: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray
Plot: Nazi thieves have stolen art objects and masterpieces, so in this true story, FDR sends an unlikely World War II platoon to return them to their rightful owners.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: Once considered an Oscar possibility in 2013, but its release date was moved to 2014.
10. The Outsider
Director: Brian A. Miller
Starring: Jason Patric, James Caan, Craig Fairbrass
Plot: A British military contractor is told his daughter has died, but when he arrives in Los Angeles, he finds the body is not hers so he searches to uncover what is happening.
11. The Pretty One
Director: Jenée LaMarque
Starring: Zoe Kazan, Jake Johnson, John Carroll Lynch
Plot: After a deadly accident, a shy identical twin is mistaken for her outgoing and much prettier sister.
Buzz/Tomato-meter: This film screened at 2013's Tribeca Film Festival.
12. Someone Marry Barry
Director: Rob Pearlstein
Starring: Tyler Labine, Lucy Punch, Damon Wayans Jr.
Plot: Three childhood friends scheme to find a wife for their socially inappropriate pal, but their plan backfires when this new girlfriend turns out to be just like him in this romantic comedy.
13. Vampire Academy
Director: Daniel Waters
Starring: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky
Plot: The Rose Hathaway legend unfolds as she attends a very special vampire school.
14. Sinbad the Fifth Voyage
Director: David Winning
Starring: Shahin Sean Solimon
Plot: Sinbad must rescue the Sultan's first born from an evil sorcerer by traveling to a desert of magic and all sort of creatures.
15. Nurse 3D
Director: Douglas Aarniokoski
Starring: Paz de la Huerta, Katrina Bowden, Corbin Bleu, Boris Kodjoe, Niecy Nash, Judd Nelson
Plot: A Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story of a nurse who lovingly attends to the patients at All Saints Memorial Hospital but at night, prowls the clubs, luring unfaithful men into dangerous liaisons.
